MILAN, June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcantara®, the Italian-made luxury material, has been featured on the interiors of some of the most important new cars and concept vehicles introduced at major auto shows around the world during the 2016-2017 show season.
New cars with Alcantara interior trim debuted at a variety of international motor shows, including Shanghai, New York, Geneva, Detroit, Los Angeles and Paris.
SHANGHAI 2017
Buick was just one of many brands that featured Alcantara at the recent Shanghai Auto Show. The new Buick Encore SUV, Verano GS and Verano 2.0T all had Alcantara seating. SAIC's Roewe and Maxus brands also showcased models dressed in Alcantara. Alfa Romeo introduced its Giulia Quadrifoglio to the Chinese market with seats in black Alcantara and other car makers also made extensive use of the Italian-made material, including Audi, BMW and Porsche.
NEW YORK 2017
The debut of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon took place at the New York International Auto Show in April. The SRT Demon is an insurable hot rod with a factory warranty and enviable performance numbers that include: an 840-horsepower engine, a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds and quarter-mile times of 9.65 seconds. Alcantara covers the front seat and steering wheel in a grip-inducing black material, Alcantara also is used on the car's door panels
GENEVA 2017
The interior of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, introduced at the Geneva International Auto Show in March, featured black perforated Alcantara Starlite material. Alcantara also covered the backrest central-and-lateral supports. Ferrari's 789-horsepower supercar promises 0-60 mph times of 2.9 seconds. The Aston Martin Rapide AMR also introduced in Geneva featured an Alcantara interior to echo a race-inspired exterior color scheme with contrasting lime-green topstitching over dark-blue Alcantara. Peugeot won the highly coveted title of European Car of the Year for its 3008 crossover, also shown in Geneva. The vehicle's contemporary interior styling featured Alcantara seating with golden-yellow topstitching in a lozenge pattern against a darker neutral background.
DETROIT 2017
The 2018 Audi Q8 Concept, a restyled plug-in hybrid version of the Q7 SUV with a 333 hp engine and 100kW electric motor, appeared at the North American International Auto Show in January. Alcantara was used extensively on its headliner, door panels and seating. Alcantara also was a defining feature on one of Lincoln's 2017 Continental Black Label luxury cars. Alcantara covers the seats and headliner of the 2017 Continental Black Label Rhapsody with a unique perforation pattern that adds style and function.
LOS ANGELES 2016
The newest entry in the U.S. luxury SUV market, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio made its world premiere in Los Angeles last November with an Alcantara headliner, dashboard, seating and black Alcantara with distinctive red stitching on the upper part of the Stelvio's steering wheel.At the Los Angeles show, Acura relied on Alcantara to dress the seats for the debut of its Precision Concept – a stand-alone cockpit featuring innovative telematics. The production version of the 2017 Acura NSX also had Alcantara seating with red stitching for visual impact. Ford Motor Company's Ford F-150 Lariat model offered Alcantara seating, putting an emphasis on Lariat's commitment to strength and style.
PARIS 2016
The BMW i3 Garage Italia CrossFade and BMW i8 Garage Italia CrossFade each used Alcantara on seats, touch points and interior panels at the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile last October. Combining performance with luxury, the 462-horsepower Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid featured an Alcantara headliner and seating. And Porsche's Cayenne E-Hybrid also was shown with Alcantara seating surfaces. Renault attracted the attention of Paris show attendees with the Renault's Trezor Concept that featured a Parisian-styled cockpit dressed in red Alcantara.
