DETROIT, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- AutoMobili-D is ready to showcase to the world the next-generation of mobility development, and the extensive lineup of exhibitors announced today reinforces the North American International Auto Show's (NAIAS) position as the epicenter of mobility. In total, more than 100 companies, including nearly 50 startups, will showcase their industry-leading mobility innovations and platforms inside AutoMobili-D.
"NAIAS is the perfect global stage for our industry's full ecosystem to demonstrate its technological and innovative might and its autonomous-driving future," said 2017 NAIAS Chairman Sam Slaughter. "AutoMobili-D exhibitors will take the wraps off the industry's biggest transformation in more than a century."
Located in Cobo Center's Atrium and Planet M Hall on Sunday, Jan. 8 – Thursday, Jan. 12, AutoMobili-D will be the backdrop for automakers, suppliers and startups to announce and display future mobility innovations before thousands of media and industry leaders gathered for Press Preview and Industry Preview days.
AutoMobili-D will feature 120,000 square feet of dynamic display communities focused on five key mobility areas: Autonomous Driving, Connected Car Technologies, E-Mobility, Mobility Services and Urban Mobility. Leading mobility companies and initiatives taking place in Michigan will also be showcased in Cobo's Hall E, which will be transformed into Planet M, a state of Michigan initiative that represents the collective mobility efforts across the state.
In addition to its five display communities, AutoMobili-D will include mobility-focused driving demonstrations inside at the Delphi Automotive Autonomous Vehicle Test Pad and outside on a 1-mile closed loop track along the Detroit River.
John Krafcik, CEO of Waymo, formally Google's Self-Driving Car Project, will kick-off AutoMobili-D with an important announcement on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 4:20 p.m. A host of panel discussions, symposiums and press announcements, including a keynote from Carols Ghosn, Chairman and CEO, Nissan Motor Corporation, on the changing automotive landscape will be featured during Preview Week, Jan. 8 – 12.
